One life, two destinies

In a world of many lives, there is always another chance, so urgency feels foreign. Scripture teaches one life, then judgment. Those who reject Christ face eternal separation from God. This is the hardest truth to speak, and it must be spoken with tears, never with contempt.

What Scripture says

  • Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life; whoever rejects Him remains under God's wrath ().
  • Whoever does not believe stands condemned already ().
  • Those who do not obey the will be shut out from the presence of the Lord ().
  • Unlike the temporary hells () of Hindu teaching, this separation is final.

How to speak the warning

  • With God's heart. He takes no pleasure in the death of the wicked () and is patient, not wanting anyone to perish ().
  • With tears. Paul felt unceasing anguish for those who did not believe ().
  • With the invitation attached. Never give the warning without the way of escape: today is the day of salvation ().

Questions your friend may askQuestions people often ask

  • "A loving God would not do this." Separation from God is the final granting of what a person chose: life without Him. God's love is shown in that He paid the highest price so no one has to go there ().
  • "What about my parents and ancestors?" This is the most painful question in an Indian family. Do not pronounce on the dead. Point to the character of God: will not the Judge of all the earth do right? (). Then turn gently to the question that is still open, which is their own response today.
  • "I will try again in the next life." Explain why there is no next attempt, and why that is good news: Christ finished the work once, so you do not have to earn it over countless lives.
Christ above all

The One who will judge is the One who died to forgive. He does not want anyone to perish (), and every knee will one day bow to Him. It is better to bow now, in love, than later.

In short

Scripture teaches one life, then judgment, and two destinies. The warning must be spoken with tears, and always with the invitation attached.

How should we speak about serious things with great gentleness? What is the difference between warning and caring?

If there is one life and then judgment, what would you want to be true of your life when it ends?
